You will primarily contribute to the computational component of the project and will also be expected to contribute to service and engagement roles and activities and support the supervision and development of Undergraduate Honours and Higher Degree Research students. Key responsibilities will include: Research Closely work within the cross-disciplinary team of researchers and students to achieve the objectives of the research project. Carry out DFT calculations to guide selection of photocatalysts and develop an understanding of features leading to optimal photocatalytic activity. Document research findings and publish scholarly papers in high-quality refereed international journals, books or conference proceedings. Participate in applications for competitive research funding to support projects and activities and work with colleagues in the development of joint research projects and applications for competitive research funding support. Engage effectively with external partners. Supervision and Researcher Development Contribute to supervision of Undergraduate, Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate). Lead and develop the performance of the students they supervise, by providing feedback, coaching, and professional development. As appropriate, work with research support staff effectively throughout the employee lifecycle in accordance with University policy and procedures. Work to promptly resolve conflict and grievances if they arise, in accordance with University policy and procedures. Citizenship and Service Demonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values. Contribute to internal service roles and administrative processes as required, including participation in decision-making and service on relevant committees. Begin to develop external links and partnerships by cultivating relationships with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community. Perform a range of administrative functions in the research group as needed. Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor. This is a research focused position. About You Completion of a PhD in the fields of chemistry, chemical engineering, materials engineering, physics or similar field. Broad understanding of computational methods for hydrogen peroxide production. Demonstrate expertise in DFT calculation for photocatalytic reactions. Demonstrated competence in generating meaningful research outcomes that have led to publications in reputed refereed journals. Excellent communication skills. Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding. Ability to work well in a team and to contribute to development of a collaborative and supportive research environment. Sound experience of close collaboration with experimental researchers.
