Sustainable Minerals Institute / JKMRC Full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 2 years Base salary will be in the range $78,871.35 - $105,004.02 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A) Based at Long Pocket About This Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the High-Temperature Processing Group at JKMRC, SMI of UQ, to be involved in a range of projects focusing on the decarbonization of ironmaking and steelmaking sectors or the development of “Green Steels”. The successful candidate will carry out fundamental research to contribute to the low-emission H2-DRI – ESF – BOF – LF steelmaking route in utilization of Australian iron ores. Key responsibilities will include: Research: Carry out high temperature experiments and develop high temperature techniques for tailored experimental purposes. Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits. Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. About You Completion or near completion of a PhD in the high-temperature processing or related area. An emerging profile in research in the ironmaking and steelmaking area. Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences. Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding. Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.
