Contract Details: * Initial contract duration: 4 months* Extension term: 12 months* Experience level: Senior - APS6 equivalent* Location of work: ACT* Working arrangements: Hybrid (Canberra Based, candidates must be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week)* Security clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline Our Federal Government client is looking for a Data Engineer to join an esteemed program to work across several data and analytics platforms. The candidate will design, build, and optimise Power BI solutions, with strong expertise in data modelling, SQL, and Azure Databricks. The ideal candidate will have experience in Azure Data Factory, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and Git version control, ensuring scalable and well-structured data products. This role is highly collaborative, requiring close engagement with business stakeholders and development teams to deliver high-quality, user-driven insights. Key duties and responsibilities: Develop and optimise Power BI solutions, including reports, dashboards, and data models tailored to business needs. Design and implement efficient data models, ensuring they are optimised for performance and usability. Collaborate closely with business users and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable Power BI solutions. Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows in Azure Data Factory to ensure reliable and efficient data ingestion. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, ensuring smooth deployment and version control with Git. Optimise Power BI reports for performance, usability, and scalability. Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy best practices. Continuously improve and refine data engineering and BI best practices, ensuring consistency and efficiency across projects. Preferred Skills & Experience: Strong expertise in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M), and advanced data visualisation techniques. Proficiency in SQL for data transformation, query optimisation, and data modelling. Experience working with Azure Databricks for data processing and analytics. Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory for orchestrating and automating data workflows. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including business users, analysts, and developers, to improve BI solutions and data infrastructure. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical implementation.
