Ensure that the amenity and cleanliness of the Municipal District is maintained and improved. What you’ll be doing: Maintain shopping centres, car parks, laneways and difficult to access areas using a mechanical footpath sweeper. Carry out Council’s footpath sweeping programs in accordance with the units contracted obligations and/or work schedules as determined by the work group agreements. Maintain shopping centres, public places, laneways, and car parks using manually operated cleansing equipment. Carry out Council’s manual cleansing programs in accordance with the units contracted obligation, and/or work schedules as determined by the work group agreements. Conduct the cleansing programs, collection and disposal of waste, sweepings, debris, litter, vegetation, and weeds in accordance with Council’s safety policies and procedures. Dispose of all waste, collecting at Council’s refuse disposal sites or any other site as directed and in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures. Conduct pre-start checks and perform routine maintenance on plant, equipment, and vehicle on a daily basis in accordance with approved pre-start check list and maintenance programs. Actively participate in Continuous Improvement meetings to ensure best practice operations. Report on a daily basis any non-conformances, hazards or operational problems associated with the service. The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role: Demonstrated ability to communicate with people from broad backgrounds and cultures and practice public courtesy in conducting duties. Skilled in the safe and competent operation of mechanical and manual street cleansing vehicles and equipment. Relevant experience in the driving and operation of compact sweeping vehicles and associated equipment. Demonstrated understanding and practical application of Occupational Health and Safety requirements. Knowledgeable in the delivery of street cleansing programs. Hold a current motor vehicle license. A current heavy truck license would be an advantage. Why Hume City Council?
