Principal Software Engineer – Java / Kafka / Microservices / AWS Principal Software Engineer Permanent role Greenfield project with a scaling SaaS business Hybrid working (2 days in office) This role is an exciting opportunity to join an Eco-Tech scale up as they expand their product offerings into European markets in 2025. This role has no direct reports, and you will be purely responsible for all things Java / Kafka related as my client takes their product offering overseas. Day to day responsibilities: Build robust & scalable event-driven microservices using Java & Kafka Drive the adoption of pub-sub & messaging systems to enable real-time applications Implement secure identity management solutions Coach and mentor all parts of the business around best practices Advise on new solutions/technologies and suggest new processes Promote best practices around coding, DevSecOps, and CI/CD Skills required: Java expert 5+ years in AWS environments Expertise in event-driven architecture – ideally Kafka Experience implementing and championing modern engineering practices Ability to coach, influence, and collaborate Strategic thinker with experience in SaaS and scale-up environments This is an exciting opportunity to join a SaaS company as they embark on greenfield initiatives to expand into European markets.
