Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager or Senior/Principal Engineer/Scientist to lead and expand our operations in South East Queensland. This role is an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to leverage an existing client base, identify new business opportunities, and build a strong team around them. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical expertise and business development skills to deliver projects while growing our market presence. Key Responsibilities: Drive business growth by identifying and securing new clients while expanding existing accounts. Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve revenue and growth targets. Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry stakeholders, and key decision-makers. Lead and deliver projects within your discipline, ensuring high technical standards and client satisfaction. Work closely with the Directors and Managers to align business strategies and operational goals. Promote the firm’s full-service capabilities in environmental, geotechnical, and structural engineering. Support and mentor junior staff while building a high-performing team in South East Queensland. Manage proposals, tenders, and contracts, ensuring commercial viability and strategic alignment. Collaborate with technical teams across the Sydney office to ensure seamless project execution. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, Construction, or a related field. Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in business development and/or engineering consulting. Established local network and strong client base in South East Queensland. Technical expertise in environmental, geotechnical, or structural engineering. Strong business acumen with the ability to identify, pursue, and close opportunities. Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills. Experience managing projects from inception to completion, including budgeting and resource allocation. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software. What’s in It for You? The Existing QLD Team & Growth Potential: This role provides the opportunity to establish and lead a team in South East Queensland. Currently, 1-2 geotechnical engineers are based full-time in the Gold Coast office. Additional staffing and technical support available from the Sydney office.
