Our benefits offer you access to deals, support and discounts to help you unlock the important things in Life – Health, Family, Recreation and Your Future with MinRes **APPLY NOW to join the MinRes Family** **The Opportunity** The Principal Engineer Tailings & Mine Waste will be responsible for design, project coordination, compliance oversight and associated approvals support related to tailings and mine waste in line with industry best practice. This role is a great opportunity for a highly collaborative, agile and motivated individual to lead initiatives that positively impact how we manage our tailings and mine waste from planning to closure. You will have the ability to process improve, drive decision making and provide guidance to business leaders. For this position you will report directly to Manager Geotechnical and Tailings and be part of our Water, Geotechnical and Tailings team, you will be based at our HQ office on Osborne Park, and on occasions oversee projects up onsite as the business requires. Key responsibilities will include: • Provide operational, technical and governance supported related to tailings engineering. • Manage the project coordination, compliance oversight and associated approvals support for tailings and mine waste designs in line with industry best practice. • Provide technical leadership, project technical support and promote risk reduction across the group. • Provide ongoing guidance and support to our operations. • Develop scopes of work designs in compliance with regulatory expectations as well as internal and external technical guidelines. • Develop and maintain engagement with other internal stakeholder leads. • Drive our journey towards alignment with best practice for active and future TSFs in design, construction and operations phases. • Implement and develop continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance and efficiencies relating to both data management and execution. **What is required:** • Tertiary qualifications in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline with significant experience in tailings management. • Background in tailings design consultancy is desirable. • Extensive knowledge of TSF design, construction and operation. • Understanding of soil mechanics from a dam safety perspective and expertise in the safe operation and monitoring of TSFs. • Experience in geotechnical investigations, analyses and designs relating to TSF and associated infrastructure. • Experience in risk assessment and risk management principles. • Deep understanding of relevant standards and guidelines, including GISTM. • Experienced with design software packages (ArcGIS, Global Mapper, Rift TD, GeoStudio, Rocscience etc). • Experience in management of consultants and contractors. • Track record of finding practical and innovative solutions to engineering challenges. • Ability to take a whole-of-business perspective in managing multiple competing priorities and reconciling these with the Compnay’s strategic priorities • A strong commitment towards leading a safe work culture. • Demonstrated ability to work within large multi-disciplinary teams and strong stakeholder engagement ability. • Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with senior business leaders and other technical stakeholders. • Strong oral and written communication. • A well-developed network across the tailings industry. **About Mineral Resources** MinRes is a leading diversified resources company with extensive operations in lithium, iron ore, energy and mining services across Western Australia.
