Job Description

Principal Environmental Consultant (EIA) SLR Consulting APAC is an employee-controlled international environmental consultancy with a globally recognised reputation for providing high quality tailored services. With close to 1000 staff across 23 technical disciplines in APAC, we offer global consultancy advice and support on a wide range of strategic and site-specific issues to a diverse and growing base of business, regulatory and governmental clients. We have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Principal Environmental Consultant to join our internationally recognised Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team based in Perth. Our team provides a wide range of project management, due diligence, EIA and approval services. We collaborate closely with our 23 in-house technical discipline teams to deliver comprehensive environmental service to clients across various sectors. Our Perth EIA team are diverse and well-renowned, and work from our modern Subiaco offices. Articulate, motivated and with a keen eye for technical details, you will have circa 15 years' experience in consulting, government or industry. You will enjoy undertaking project work whilst mentoring team members and developing client relationships throughout the region. Due to growth, there are likely to be upcoming leadership opportunities in the team in the near future. While it is not imperative, this role would suit a technically proficient Principal who is looking to expand into management in the next 1-2 years. Responsibilities In this role your expertise will see you manage and contribute to key projects across the Renewables, Mining and Infrastructure sectors. Your responsibilities will include: Providing advice on best practice EIA and management principles to clients and internal SLR team members Leading and working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects Assisting in the development and implementation of team business plans and strategies Developing, facilitating and enhancing effective relationships with our clients and internal SLR team members, particularly across other technical disciplines Working closely with the team lead to drive team and company growth Conducting thorough technical reviews and mentoring/development of junior staff Delivering clear and precise, high-quality reports Occasionally travelling to undertake field assessments and site familiarisation walk-overs Experience Along with a great attitude and the ability to contribute to our friendly team, we are looking for: A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field Minimum of 15 years' experience in environmental impact assessment and primary state and commonwealth approvals A solid network and the ability to win work through business development and demonstrated client management expertise Experience in Mining and/or Infrastructure approvals is critical. Experience in renewables is advantageous Demonstrated experience directing and managing multidisciplinary projects Demonstrated knowledge of state and Commonwealth environmental legislation and policies, standards and guidelines Demonstrated knowledge of international impact assessment and securities reporting (e.g., SK-1300, NI-I43-101) will be looked upon favourably Strong attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia We are most proud of our diverse, friendly and expert team, who work together to collaborate on projects to get the best possible outcome for our clients.
