POSITION SUMMARY An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Principal Power System Engineer to join a dynamic consultancy specializing in power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects. This role involves providing technical leadership, engaging in system and technical studies, supporting business development activities, and contributing to team capacity building. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Engineering and Consulting: Provide technical engineering expertise and consulting services to clients, including power transmission and distribution, power system analysis and modelling, generation projects, microgrid and off-grid electricity networks, hybrid electricity networks, Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), HVDC and MVDC projects, technical due diligence, and wholesale market reform. System and Technical Studies: Conduct power system studies, including steady-state, dynamic, and power quality assessments. Responsibilities include developing models, performing simulations, analyzing results, and preparing reports. Proficiency in software tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PSS/SINCAL, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and Microsoft Excel is required. Skills Development: Develop expertise in HVDC, FACTS, underground/submarine cable systems, protection and control, and renewable energy projects. Maintain required industry accreditations and certifications. Job Management: Provide leadership and manage assigned projects, ensuring adherence to quality, budget, and schedule. Business Development: Assist with the preparation of bid proposals and tender submissions, and engage in networking and business development activities. Supervision and Mentoring: Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional growth. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with extensive power system analysis experience. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the energy industry. Experience in professional services, business development, and stakeholder engagement. Proficiency in industry-standard software tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to obtain relevant engineering registrations. Valid driver’s license and legal right to work in the country. WORK ENVIRONMENT Primarily seated and office-based, with potential for local, interstate, and international travel. Flexibility to work outside business hours as needed.
