I have a new contract role for a highly technical principal/staff level engineer & chief problem solver. 9 months - circa $1200 a day. Sydney CBD (2 days in-office). This is a leadership role, for someone who can uplift a team, provide specific guidance and make judgment calls on technical questions, especially when there’s some ambiguity. There’s no coding involved, but we do need someone able to provide technical leadership on various infrastructure projects such as database migrations, CI/CD implementation, dev tooling, capacity planning, security, etc. It's important for this role to have a strong understanding of those, as the work is cross-functional. Responsibilities: Provide technical guidance across the full stack, from backend systems to cloud infrastructure, web and app development. Develop tools and processes to empower team members to deliver changes with confidence. Contribute to strategic technical decisions, including research and implementation of new technologies. Contribute to roadmap and planning, collaborate with teams across the business. Proven experience leading engineering teams to deliver customer-facing software at scale. Strong understanding of software engineering practices including unit testing, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure automation, zero-downtime deployments, staged rollout strategies, monitoring and alerting, security auditing and testing.
