Job Description

The Queensland Police Service has established a dedicated First Nations and Cultural Capability training team. As the Principal Training Coordinator (Cultural Capability) (Identified), you will lead, manage and coordinate multiple teams responsible for driving delivery of education and training activities to strengthen the cultural capability of the QPS and its members, to improve policing outcomes involving First Nations and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) people.You and your team will establish, build and maintain effective communication and collaboration with QPS business areas, multicultural / First Nations peoples and communities, representatives of government departments, and external agencies in order to lead and drive education and training activities directly relevant to frontline policing and service delivery; as well as to meet community needs and expectations.Your Key Accountabilities The core capability requirements for this role are: Assess and monitor the effectiveness of all cultural capability learning and development initiatives and provide high quality education and training advice and leadership to strengthen cultural capability education & training programs for the Service. Establish, build and maintain effective communication and collaboration with QPS business areas, multicultural / First Nations peoples and communities, representatives of government departments, and external agencies in order to lead and drive education and training activities directly relevant to frontline policing and service delivery; as well as to meet community needs and expectations. Provide leadership, manage and coordinate multiple teams responsible for cultural capability education and training projects through the design, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of QPS education and training courses and programs. Facilitate professional consultation & negotiation across QPS business areas to conduct needs analysis and assess cultural training requirements and provide professional strategic advice and direction in relation to education and training strategies and approaches for the design and delivery of cultural capability training. Prepare and deliver high-level advice, reports, submissions, briefing materials and correspondence for senior management. Fostering a stimulating, equitable, ethical and safe working environment for staff which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement. Role Requirements Mandatory This is an identified position. It is a genuine occupational requirement that an Identified position be filled by a First Nations person as permitted by and arguable under Section 25, 104 and 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991). It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. One of the referees should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities. Qualification Possession of skills and experience in an accredited tertiary qualification in adult education would be highly regarded. Technical/ Operational/ Educational Experience Previous experience with managing education and training projects and the design, development and delivery of cultural capability training would be highly regarded.
