Job Overview The Product Developer / Garment Technician is responsible for developing each style from sketch sign off up until proto review / before handing over to production for bulk. The Product Developer / Garment Technician must have technical knowledge of how to create, construct and finish a garment and problem solve any issues that arise. They will create all tech packs, test and check all samples and fabrics before SMS and maintain log of trims, fabrics and sketches. This role is responsible for supporting the on-time execution of each season from sampling through to complete handover to production. Key Responsibilities Conduct regular competitor research and marketing research. CADs/ sketches updates – from sketch sign off handed over from design assistant. Range board updates (physical board and soft copies) – after sketch sign off. Stocktake – monthly stocktake of sampling fabrics, raw materials. Ordering sampling and recording fabric inventory. Fabric swatching library. Create all technical specs with garment measurements, construction and specifications – For local and offshore. Translate changes to pattern makers + resampling along with product manager. Create all BOMs in tech pack for each style. Assist design assistant with fabric sourcing where needed. Measure and check proto samples against spec + pattern. Wash test fabrics and characteristics at sampling stage and development. Manage all offshore and local product development. Build and manage sample garment, sample fabric and trim tracker. Create grading for all products. Maintain product history throughout design to SMS. Conduct wear test as required. Any other tasks as requested by Creative Director, Managing Director and Product Manager. Desired Skills and Expertise A degree or higher qualification in a relevant field - Product Development/ Garment Technician or Fashion Design. Proven experience in a similar role. Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel & Word, with Adobe Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator) is highly regarded. Strong design fundamentals and garment construction knowledge. Good knowledge of fabrics & trims and a keen interest in fashion. Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
