Join us and help shape the future of online safety.The key duties of the position include: Leadership: Manages and mentors a team of software developers, testers and a technical product owner providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional growth fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Fosters teamwork by identifying and leveraging expertise of individuals whilst encouraging collaboration and information sharing to achieve results for the section and broader branch and eSafety objectives. Planning and resource management: Anticipates and establishes priorities, monitors progress, and works to deliver required corporate outcomes, specific eSafety functions or programs, and oversees the implementation of strategic business plans and strategies to deliver on aims and objectives. Manages and deploys allocated resources to competing priorities, utilising forecasts, plans, and performance measures to meet required outcomes. Project Management: Oversees the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to deployment, implementing effective strategies to manage time and output tracking, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Product Vision and Strategy: Works with business owners and the executive to define and communicate a product vision, strategy, and roadmap that aligns with the agency's goals and objectives. Technical Oversight: Ensures the use of best practices in software development, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Stakeholder Engagement: Builds and sustains strategic relationships with internal and external networks, liaises with stakeholders to address their needs and presents eSafety's view on highly complex and/or sensitive issues. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and ensure alignment with agency goals. Compliance: Ensures all software development activities and products comply with relevant Australian Government standards and regulations, including security and privacy requirements. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Promotes a culture of innovation by staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies and integrating them into the development process to enhance product performance and user satisfaction. Drives organisational and section improvements by promoting and implementing innovation and changes. Quality Assurance: Implements and maintains robust quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Culture: Leads and exemplifies a healthy and safe working environment, modelling and promoting ethical behaviours and practices consistent with the APS Code of Conduct and eSafety values. Note: Due to the nature of eSafety's regulatory scope, occupants in this role may be exposed to content or hear stories about other people's experiences with online harm, or be involved in work on potentially distressing and sensitive topics.
