The Service Management Monitoring Technology chapter examines the critical tools, frameworks, and methodologies used to monitor, measure, and optimise our IT services in real-time, by focusing on key areas such as observability, event management, and analytics. With a deep commitment to scalability, resilience, and operational efficiency, the team plays a crucial role in delivering our Site Reliability objectives. Your Role As a Product Owner – Observe, you will support the adoption and enhancement of our observability platform. This platform is crucial for providing real-time insights, performance monitoring, and system health visibility across our technology landscape. You will play a key role in onboarding new systems, solving for automation challenges, and enabling self-service dashboards for teams to gain actionable insights effortlessly. In summary, you may expect to: Drive the onboarding of systems onto the Observe platform, ensuring smooth integration and usability. Automate observability processes, reducing manual effort and enabling self-service capabilities. Collaborate with engineering teams to define and deliver features that enhance system monitoring and insight generation. Own and refine the product backlog, prioritizing features that maximize impact and adoption. Ensure best practices in observability, logging, metrics, and tracing to enhance system performance and reliability. Champion self-service capabilities, empowering teams to create and manage their own monitoring dashboards. Additional Responsibilities: Define and own the platform engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with ITSM modernisation initiatives. Work with engineering teams, architects, and stakeholders to shape and prioritise technical solutions. Manage a technical backlog, balancing innovation, scalability, and operational needs. Advocate for best practices in automation, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and cloud-native development. Your Skills and Experience A strong software engineering or development background with hands-on experience in building and deploying applications. Experience with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Datadog, or similar). Proficiency in automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to drive self-service capabilities. Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and how observability integrates into cloud-native environments. Strong experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and working in cross-functional teams.
