About the team About the National Artificial Intelligence Centre At the National Artificial Intelligence Centre (NAIC), we’re accelerating positive AI adoption and innovation that benefits business and the community. This includes partnering with industry and the broader ecosystem to uplift Australia’s AI capability, to support small to medium sized businesses success with AI, and to uplift the practice of safe and responsible AI. Our team is actively engaging with industry and the AI ecosystem to support the landing of priority initiatives and gathering perspectives to shape the government’s AI strategy. The NAIC team leads several high-profile initiatives such as Australia’s AI Month, the AI Leadership Summit, the Responsible AI Network, Australia’s AI Sprint, AI Industry Connections, the AI Industry Directory, and the development of the Voluntary AI Safety Standard. These initiatives together with regular industry reports, enable Australia’s businesses to take advantage of the AI opportunity in a safe and responsible way. Our ideal candidate Our ideal candidate will have the following: Experience in managing and/or contributing collaboratively to projects and/or strategic initiatives including formulating workplans, defining deliverables, execution, and completion. Ability to work independently under limited supervision on a wide variety of activities. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple tasks within agreed priorities, timeframes and accountabilities. Track record in assisting with preparing business documents, such as reports, presentations, and plans. Experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders and able to respond to their needs in a timely and satisfactory way. Ability to quickly adapt to technological, structural and procedural changes, maintaining professionalism and flexibility. Knowledge about Artificial Intelligence, cloud or the broader technology landscape. What you will do In this role you will: Manage day-to-day activities of NAIC programs with guidance from relevant Program lead(s). This may include: Delivering and managing project tasks, Stakeholder engagement, Status reporting, Budget tracking and management, Procurement process, Resource allocation and risk mitigation. Support the Industry Program Managers to scope out new program initiatives, assist with partnerships and procurement related activities. Support the delivery of the Industry Growth and Operations team or Safe and Responsible AI team initiatives including industry programs, major in-person and virtual events, generation of reports, and other programs as they are developed. Manage the assets and platforms related to the program of works, engage with the associated community, own content quality assessment and undertake any relevant desktop research to enhance impact of the programs. Provide executive support to advisory forums, including meeting support, minutes, actions and agendas. Other duties as directed. Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Notes A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette. The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles. This vacancy is NSW, SA, and VIC based, although flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered.
