Project Engineering Intern, Utility Battery Energy Storage (Brisbane or Melbourne) The Tesla Energy Project Engineering team is responsible for the successful deployment of Tesla’s Megapack utility scale Energy Storage Systems. We’re looking for a driven, motivated, and collaborative Intern to join us to help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. This is an opportunity with a broad technical scope, including office and site-based work. The successful applicant will gain experience in renewable energy project construction, grid connection, and AEMO hold point testing. What to Expect This is a diverse role where knowledge of basic design rules, constructability, utility requirements, and engineering fundamentals is expected. Members of our team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a constantly shifting technology landscape. Tasks may include: Coordination, execution, and documentation of test plans Preparation of equipment specifications and tendering Site-based construction monitoring, auditing, and quality inspections Fault-finding, root cause reporting, analysis of SCADA data, protection relay event records Balance of plant electrical subcontractor design review Incorporation of lessons learnt into continuous improvement of specifications, scoping documents, processes, test report templates, automations What You’ll Bring Completed or currently working towards a degree in a relevant program such as Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Genuine passion for engineering products that will fundamentally change the world’s energy infrastructure and a desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment Exceptional ability to apply engineering principles to real-life problems Extreme proactive approach. Ability to observe inefficiency and suggest ways to improve.
