About the position TEQSA currently has an opportunity for an experienced communications professional to work in our Communications team, which sits within the Policy, Research and Engagement Group. As Project Manager (Communications) , you will be accountable, under broad direction, for providing strategic and tactical oversight of external and internal communications, in support of TEQSA’s overall goals and objectives. This is a high-profile role that requires well-developed written and verbal communications skills. You will play a central role in supporting senior leaders with a range of communication and engagement activities and work collaboratively across the agency by actively contributing to planning, continuous improvement, and decision-making. You will effectively identify, analyze, and manage risk and issues, demonstrate high-level organizational skills, and exercise judgment appropriate for the position. You will be innovative, flexible, and able to adapt to meet immediate and future challenges, working in a dynamic environment. Some interstate travel may be required. Duties As Project Manager (Communications) , you will be responsible and accountable to: Develop, implement, and evaluate communication activities/projects with a particular focus on supporting TEQSA’s communication and engagement activities. Contribute to the development of high-quality, audience-appropriate content across a range of media regarding TEQSA’s activities. Support the Communications team in achieving project goals and milestones, including the development of good practice guides and content for providers. Build professional relationships with internal stakeholders, providers, regulatory bodies, external experts, and professional accreditation bodies and represent the Agency in established relationships and networks. Contribute to the development and achievement of group and agency strategic objectives and plans. Support the management of media inquiries and development of TEQSA’s relationships with members of the media. Support the Assistant Director, Communications with other duties, as required. We are looking for a high-performing team member who is passionate about contributing to the excellence of Australian higher education. Our ideal candidate will have: Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing successful communications strategies for complex projects across a broad range of constituents. Demonstrated ability to produce written and digital content for multiple audiences across a range of channels on matters related to higher education. High level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work independently to prepare high quality, concise reports, strategies, and briefs for presentation to decision makers, which require little or no revision before finalization. The ability to build and manage relationships through effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders, representing the agency, providing support, and anticipating and responding to their needs. Demonstrated ability to manage media inquiries and complex issues, including the development of media responses, talking points for leaders, and coaching senior leadership. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Qualifications and experience An awareness of legislative, financial, and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes, and agency guidelines and regulations will be highly regarded. A relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in the higher education or public sector is preferred. The successful applicant must: Be an Australian citizen. Complete a National Police Check satisfactorily. Be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance to Baseline status, supported by TEQSA. Failure to satisfy any of the above conditions may result in the withdrawal of an offer of employment or termination of employment. Other relevant information This recruitment process is being used to fill a non-ongoing vacancy until 30 June 2025 .
