About the Role The position provides psychological services to adult consumers of the Casey Acute Crisis Intervention Service (ACIS). ACIS provides urgent community-based assessment and treatment options (including referral onwards, acute inpatient admission, and short-term treatment) to consumers in the acute phase of mental illness. The focus of the position is to provide evidence-based psychological services to adult consumers who are presenting with acute symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, personality disorders, depression, and other mental health disorders. Key result areas: Conduct psychological assessments and provide meaningful feedback as per the model of care, including contributing to diagnostic clarification, formulation, and treatment planning. Use diagnosis, formulation, and consumers’ preferences to develop and deliver effective, evidence-based psychological intervention as per the model of care, including: Single session therapy. Psychoeducation about the nature of their mental illness, treatment options, and coping strategies. Assist consumers to develop strategies to prevent relapse, including recognizing early warning signs and developing strategies to address them. Use evidence-based practice to develop and implement behavior support plans. Engage with families and carers, including providing psychoeducation about the nature of the consumer’s mental illness, treatment options, and coping strategies. Offer a psychological perspective to the treating team and other relevant stakeholders. Engage in supervision as per supervision policies. Practice ethically and professionally, including adhering to legal, ethical and organisational standards, including the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act (2022). Participate in clinical research projects, or pilot projects associated with service development, including data collection and analysis. Actively participate in reaching operational business Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). Participate in department meetings and other meetings when requested or required. Mentor provisional psychologists on student placement.
