Job Description

Regional Referee Education and Development Officer We are looking for applicants from all of regional NNSW including Far North Coast, North Coast, Mid Coast and Northern Inland. What is the role’s primary purpose? Reporting to the General Manager – Referee Growth and Development, the primary purpose of the Regional Referee Education and Development Co-Ordinator is to apply professional management and education practices to achieve improvements in the standard of officiating by referees and assistant referees at premier and community football level across Football Mid North Coast, Football Far North Coast, North Coast Football and NNSWF – Northern Inland. What will you be doing as Regional Referee Education and Development Officer? Deliver a suitable, regular mix of in person and online education sessions to referees and assessors across the four regional Member Zones in NNSWF, as directed. Prepare and provide coaching content which be used in the education and development of referees. Be a presenter at preseason seminars, Mini-Roos Game Leader Courses, C3 Junior and C4 Senior Football Match Official Courses and other referee and assessor courses across NNSWF, as directed. Carry out weekly assessments within the four regional Member Zones on a rotating basis, collaborating with the key personnel responsible for referee appointments and local coaching within each Member Zone. Administration of the etrainu learning management system relating to courses, learners, presenters, skills history, and accreditation. Deliver an annual online Child Safe induction for Match Officials within each of the four regional Member Zones. Attend preseason referee seminars across NNSWF as directed. Identify, train, and develop within each regional Member Zone suitably qualified persons to assist at a local level with the coaching, education and assessment of match officials. Ensure compliance with all FA directions regarding the development, training, education, coaching and qualification of referees within NNSWF. Play a role in the career development of match officials by providing coaching and assessment at referee development camps, tournaments, and other special events. Collaborate with relevant persons within the regional Member Zones to ensure that suitable match officials are nominated to attend referee development camps and tournaments. Establish and co-ordinate a Regional Youth Referee Academy for talented, young match officials from the four regional Member Zones. Facilitate a referee exchange program, allowing talented, young match officials from the four regional Member Zones to receive development opportunities by officiating in Newcastle. Be involved in referee recognition and achievement awards within the four regional Member Zones. Be responsible for the processes in ensuring all new referees in the four regional across NNSWF receive their referee clothing and equipment in a timely manner. Ensure all adult referees, assessors and presenters who are appointed to matches and courses within the four regional Member Zones hold a current and validated Working with Children Check. Key Performance Indicators: Frequent online coaching sessions delivered to referees in NNSWF regional Member Zones during each football season. Frequent face to face coaching sessions delivered to referees in NNSWF regional Member Zones during each football season. Attendance and coaching at annual pre-season seminars attended in regional Member Zones and at any other seminars, as required. Formal assessments (minimum of three) to be conducted weekly during the season across all four Member Zones on a rotating basis. Organising and presenting at a minimum of fifteen C3 Junior and C4 Senior Football Match Official Courses to be held across the regional Member Zones annually. 150 newly accredited referees within NNSW annually. 100 people trained as a Mini-Roos Game Leaders annually. Annually identify, train, and develop within each regional Member Zone at least two suitably qualified persons to assist at a local level with the coaching, education and assessment of match officials. Establishment and ongoing co-ordination of Regional Youth Referee Academy. 100% of required relevant referees and assessors that attend the Child Safe Induction annually. 100% compliance of relevant referees and assessors with NSW Working with Children Check legislation. About You: You will have an extensive knowledge of football within Northern NSW. Ability to build trust and partnerships effectively and quickly. Competent level of computer skills including Microsoft Office, etrainu, Squadi and Play Football. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Effective problem solving skills. Motivated hands-on approach to all tasks. Highly organised with a strong attention to detail and deadlines. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work independently. Strong time and work management skills to ensure that time worked outside of normal working hours is offset by time taken off during normal working hours within the same fortnight. Focus on Referee Department budget and ensuring that it is met in relation to activities carried out with this role. A valid and current Working with Children Check clearance for paid work. The Fine Print: Due to the nature of this role, it will be a requirement of the Regional Referee Education and Development Co-Ordinator to work on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the football season as part of his or her normal hours, as required. Work on evenings throughout the football season, as required. Attend matches on behalf of Northern NSW Football, when required. Engage in state-wide travel on a regular basis, as required.
