Apply now Job no: 530589Work type: Part TimeLocation: Sydney, NSWCategories: Clinical/Medical Research Registered Medical Practitioner Location: UNSW Kensington Campus or Remote Employment Type: Casual, 3-7 hours per week (frequency will vary depending on the stage of the trial) Salary: Casual Professional Level 7.1, $75.60 plus on-costs About Us The CogCOACH-Health Trial is funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) to evaluate the effectiveness of an online tailored program for reducing risk of chronic disease in older adults experiencing subjective cognitive decline (SCD) or with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The PI is Professor Kaarin Anstey from UNSW, and the multidisciplinary Chief Investigator team includes Investigators from the fields of medicine, psychology, physiotherapy, nutrition, public health and health economics with members from several universities including the University of Melbourne, University of Wollongong, University of Queensland, Neuroscience Research Australia, Western Sydney University, and the University of Sydney. The trial will be conducted nationally and will involve 12 months of follow-up. About the Role We are seeking a fully registered medical practitioner with expertise and experience in either General Practice, Geriatric Medicine, Neurology or Psychiatry to join our team to assist with managing participant study eligibility, and monitoring safety and wellbeing. In this role, you will: Provide clinical input and advice on participant eligibility and study protocols relevant to managing medical conditions when needed. Conduct clinical assessments when required for evaluation and reporting of potential adverse events according to clinical trial protocols. Provide referrals for participants if needed during the trial. Provide ad hoc clinical advice regarding participants in the trial that may be required. Work with the PI, Trial Manager and trial team including Allied Health professionals, and Chief Investigators. Contribute to manuscripts as a co-author, and other research outputs. This position is ideal for someone with medical qualifications and current registration who is passionate about research, who is already undertaking a masters or PhD, and has a strong interest in dementia and ageing. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia. Minimum of 12 months proven experience working as a Medical Officer in the Australian Health System. Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate. Excellent knowledge of chronic disease management, ageing, dementia and older persons’ health. Sound understanding of clinical research methodology, research ethics, professional and research integrity and good clinical practice. Willingness to take part in research team meetings as required. Demonstrated excellent computer skills and willingness to conduct clinical reviews via videoconference or telephone where required. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to prepare clear clinical documentation where required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team including researchers and health professionals. Experience working in a Clinical Trial setting, or other relevant research project. Knowledge of and interest in chronic disease prevention and dementia risk reduction.
