Job Description The Life Insurance Code Compliance team at the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) monitor life insurers’ compliance with the Life Insurance Code of Practice (the Code). By driving best practice, its aim is to improve standards of service in the Australian life insurance industry – ultimately helping insurers to create a better experience for customers. The Code team is a separately operated and funded business unit of AFCA working with the independent Life Code Compliance Committee (LICCC). The role of Code Compliance Analyst will report to the Senior Code Compliance Analyst. The role supports delivery of compliance monitoring activities and provides associated secretariat support on behalf of both committees, thereby improving trust in the Australian financial services industry. Typically, in this role you will: Contribute to and run end to end investigation of alleged breaches of the Codes by reporting and monitoring outcomes of investigations and drafting decisions to a high standard. Contribute to monitoring activities, which may include conducting enquiries and research, desktop audits, data collections and analysis, and writing, preparing and summarising briefing papers and reports as required by the Code Compliance and Operations Manager. Undertake secretariat reporting duties as directed, which may include the completion of updates and drafting briefing papers for the Code Compliance Committees. Attend and provide administrative support as required at meetings of the Committees and other stakeholder meetings. Create background material for stakeholder presentations. Role model behaviours aligned to AFCA’s Values and the Leadership Capability Framework, including a high level of self-leadership and ownership. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: Relevant industry knowledge, including Insurance or Life Insurance, Codes of Practice and self-regulation. Understanding of financial regulations and compliance frameworks would be highly valued. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal compassionately and robustly with a wide variety of stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to think laterally and critically. A motivated self-leader who takes the initiative and is driven to deliver to a high standard.
