Job Description Summary Under the direct supervision of licensed clinical staff, assists the therapists in routine tasks for therapeutic treatment of patients. Assists the department supervisor/manager in coordinating the overall department’s function and maintenance. Job Description ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Patient Care a. Supports licensed staff: Assist with patient care activities as directed by therapist. Activities are specific to each area and may include, but are not limited to:Patient room/treatment area set ups for treatment Set up patients on exercise equipment Activities related to video fluoroscopic swallow studies Provide second person assist Obtain assistive devices (Hoyer, Spryte, etc.) as needed Obtain durable medical equipment and paperwork b. Provides treatment to assigned patients as appropriate under the direct supervision of clinical staffc. Performs activities that help maintain flow of patient care in the department. Environment and Department Maintenance/Infection Control a. Assists in the maintenance of the department’s overall physical environmentb. Maintains practices according to infection control guidelines for the departmentc. Monitors pool chemistry per departmental guidelines as applicable to aread. Cleans and disinfects equipment per departmental guidelinese. Performs and documents quality control of identified equipmentf. Documents temperature checks of identified equipmentg. Performs daily, weekly, and monthly departmental checklistsh. Maintains organization and cleanliness of the DME and supply closetsi. Completes audits for walkers, gait belts and chairs on patient units as applicable to area Clerical Duties : Performs clerical duties to assist with daily operations of the department including:Scheduling appointments as applicable to area Answering phones Calling patients as directed Inventory management Photocopying and filing Faxing and scanning Data collection Daily/weekly/monthly departmental checklists Co-payment/payment collection as applicable Communication a. Communicates effectively with staff, peers, colleagues, patients, and family membersb. Alerts manager/clinician to any immediate departmental/patient issuesc. Appropriately uses all forms of South Shore Health communication in accordance with standard practicesd. Responds in a timely manner when feedback is requested Educational Activities a. Serves as mentor to new rehabilitation aide staffb. Actively participates in department projects/events/activities/meetingsc. Actively promotes rehabilitation services to frontline colleagues, patients, and familiesd. Serves as departmental ambassador to visitors (tours/observation of patient care)e. Assists with continuous Quality Improvement activities, as directedf. Takes responsibility for continuing professional development education Technology and Learning a. Possesses a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures that continue to develop in their role and throughout the organizationb. Demonstrate dependability and flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of the department Non-Essential Functions Demonstrates willingness to identify and/or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of the department and hospital Performs other duties as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education - Required High School diploma/GED Minimum Work Experience One (1) year healthcare-related experience preferred.Previous rehabilitation experience desirable.Required Classes/Skills - BLS - Basic Life Support #J-18808-Ljbffr
