The Role We are seeking a dynamic Legal Assistant to join the McCullough Robertson relief team. As a Relief Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting firm operations, covering annual and personal leave for the wider Legal Assistant cohort, and providing overflow assistance to teams during busy peak periods, including for billing and large firm projects. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain experience across all legal and shared services teams, and no two days will be the same. Some of your general duties will include: Providing exceptional secretarial support for various general administration tasks; Supporting the firm’s shared services teams as required; Proactive diary management and meeting coordination for clients, key industry stakeholders and internal management; Coordination of travel arrangements; Document drafting, amendment, management and dictation; and Ensuring a seamless handover is provided to other Legal Assistants. Experience To excel in this role, you will be a motivated and enthusiastic professional with at least one year of administrative experience in a professional services environment. Prior experience in the legal industry will be advantageous and a proactive attitude and commitment to supporting busy teams will set you apart. Success in this position requires adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to seamlessly transition between multiple teams and competing priorities. Furthermore, you will demonstrate the following attributes: A proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs and take ownership of tasks; Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clarity and professionalism; A proven ability to network and establish strong connections with both internal and external stakeholders; Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; An ability to effectively work with authors to confirm instructions, align on work requirements, and ensure smooth task execution; A commitment to providing exceptional assistance to your team; Capability of working independently while thriving in collaborative environments; and Strong technical skills with a solid understanding of software applications and a willingness to embrace new tools.
