Based out of Adelaide, Port Augusta, Alice Springs or Darwin, you will be required to provide a high standard of dental assisting skills (both clinical and administrative) to our team of dental clinicians. This position requires periods of time away from home, traveling in our state-of-the-art aircraft or driving to our communities. We believe our people – all of our people – keep the Royal Flying Doctor Service flying. Responsibilities Provide clinical chairside support to dentists and dental hygienists. Communicate effectively in a healthcare setting with sufficient knowledge of appropriate nomenclature. Assist in preparing and exposing radiographs. Maintain infection control standards as per RFDS, ADA AS/NZS 4815 and NSQHS standards. Re-process reusable instruments according to NSQHS Standards and RFDS Procedures. About You To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified Dental Assistant seeking to experience the excitement of health provision in the outback. Your strength lies in your ability to problem solve and think on your feet. You will have a working knowledge of infection control, sterilisation and waste segregation procedures, along with a high level of competency in using electronic patient records systems. Working with a supportive team of Dentists, Hygienists, and other Dental Assistants, you will also possess a willingness to work in non-traditional environments. If you have experience working in regional or remote areas, this will be a bonus! Minimum Requirements Significant experience in chairside dental assisting and dental practice administration. High standards of infection control. Demonstrated experience in sterilising and instrument processes. Experience in rural/remote/population health and in a cross-cultural environment.
