What you’d be doing in this role As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. This role is focused on: Overseeing compliance and audit requirements across all of Canva's legal entities. Liaise with local finance teams, auditors, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and audit readiness. Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Reviewing and evaluating technical assessments on accounting matters across a wide variety of IFRS and U.S. GAAP topics. Provide expert guidance on complex accounting issues, including leases, stock-based compensation, and mergers & acquisitions. Collaborating cross-functionally with teams such as FP&A, procurement, tax, and legal to provide accounting guidance on material contracts, business initiatives, and new transactions. Effectively managing accounting policy processes, tools, and materials that efficiently intake and progress accounting issues and queries raised by teams. Supporting our financial close process, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities. Coordinating with internal teams and group external auditors to streamline audit timelines, ensuring the organization is audit-ready at all times. Assisting in the preparation of external reports and participating in the decision-making related to financial and non-financial disclosures. Owning the accounting and reporting for equity compensation plans, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting standards. Partner with People and Legal teams to monitor equity plan activity and implement best practices for tracking and reporting. Staying current on new and proposed accounting standards, evaluating their impact on our global and local financial statements. You're probably a match if You have demonstrated expertise and passion for accounting standards, and have experience applying accounting principles under multiple reporting frameworks (e.g., IFRS, US GAAP). You have experience with topics common in SaaS/tech industries, such as equity or global subsidiaries. You have a Business, Finance, or Accounting degree, and a CA/CPA or equivalent qualification. You are detail-oriented and excel at breaking down complex accounting topics to communicate with clarity to various stakeholders. You are solutions-focused, risk-aware, not risk-averse.
