Why Your Role Matters A Research Assistant (Level 5) provides technical and research assistance as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers within the Population Child Health Clinical Research Group, School of Clinical Medicine UNSW. The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting research studies, writing regular reports, and attending regular meetings with stakeholders to report project progress. This position will have a particular focus on mixed methods implementation evaluation of paediatric models of health care across areas such as transition from paediatric to adult care and youth mental health projects. The role of Research Assistant reports to the Head of the Research Group and has no direct reports. The position is full time, funded until March 2026. Main Responsibilities Summary Attend research meetings and training sessions and take minutes Respond to routine enquiries relating to research Liaise with stakeholders in the preparation of ethics and grant applications, abstracts, annual and progress reports Conduct, transcribe, and analyse qualitative and quantitative interviews with support Undertake unsupervised research support tasks consistent with established methodologies (may include lab or field work) Maintain research databases, records and publication registers Conduct statistical data reporting Recruit study participants and conduct survey mail outs Organise fieldwork arrangements Who You Are We are looking for someone who has great communication and stakeholder management skills, aligned with UNSW’s vision and values and coming with: A Masters degree as a minimum, ideally in Public Health or related area Demonstrated experience with research in health contexts, with experience in qualitative research highly desirable Ideally, prior experience in the mental health space given it will be one of the first key projects this role will be working on Advanced time management, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines Demonstrated computing skills including word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), and statistical analysis packages Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives. The successful candidate will need to have (or obtain) a valid NSW Work with Children Check and Police Check. Working hours are Monday to Friday, business hours. We expect the successful candidate to work three days onsite. Candidates will need to have ongoing working rights – this role is not available for sponsorship.
