Role Type: 12-month part time contract (22.8 hours per week)Salary: $107,589 - $131,017 p.a (pro rata) plus superThe opportunity: We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Research Business Analyst to become a key member of our experienced Data Enablement team. This pivotal role directly supports the operational efficiency and success of world-class life science research by bridging the gap between research teams and data solutions. If you have a passion for translating complex needs into actionable strategies and fostering cross-functional collaboration, this is the role for you.As a Research Business Analyst, you will work alongside researchers, support staff, and external stakeholders to understand their needs and provide systemised, data-driven solutions that drive impactful research. Your focus will be on enhancing research processes, ensuring seamless integration of technology, and supporting decision-making with robust data insights.Your responsibilities include: Gather, validate, and document business requirements from research teams, particularly related to applications and systems, and translate these into actionable solutions. Analyse and model research operations processes, including data management, resource allocation, and reporting workflows, identifying areas for improvement. Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics to track and measure research metrics with a focus on data integrity. Facilitate communication between research staff, business operations (e.g., IT, Finance), and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment of business processes with research goals. Manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring efficient implementation, tracking progress, and addressing risks, opportunities, and stakeholder expectations. Lead change management efforts and support the adoption of new systems and processes across research teams. Work closely with the Data Lead to drive adoption of the MCRI data governance framework and participate in advisory group. What we need from you: A bachelor's degree in business administration, Data Analytics, Life Sciences, or related fields. Strong understanding of research processes, particularly in genomic and stem cell research. Hands-on experience in a research environment is an advantage. Proven experience in business analysis and project management in large-scale, research-focused organisations. Demonstrated experience in change management, process improvement, and complex problem-solving. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical jargon for non-technical audiences. Familiarity with Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban, and experience using tools like JIRA. Join Us!
