No Offer Description Full time, fixed term contract for 3 years with possible extension An exciting opportunity in a newly created research role within the team focused on wearables and health within the Charles Perkins Centre and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Base Salary starting from $118,390 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney, Charles Perkins Centre - The University is seeking to employ a Research Fellow to support the multi-disciplinary research team in the Charles Perkins Centre’s Mackenzie Wearables Research Hub, and the Physical Activity, Lifestyle, and Population Health research group. The incumbent will lead a program of physical activity epidemiology, as well as make major contributions and lead key aspects of the ProPASS consortium. The position is located at Charles Perkins Centre, a leading multidisciplinary research institute of the University of Sydney. Your key responsibilities will be to: Provide leadership to the Prospective Physical Activity, Sitting, and Sleep consortium (ProPASS) Provide leadership of epidemiological publications on physical activity, sleep, and other behaviors Lead high quality statistical analyses of epidemiological data Lead co-design and community involvement work Provide regular contributions to physical activity measurement related studies included in the above program of research. Significantly contribute to successful applications for competitive research grants and/or funding to deliver research impact Work under the supervision of more senior academic staff Conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, either independently or as a member of a team Undertake administration primarily relating to staff member’s activities at the University Maintain quality, standards and excellence in all research activities and outputs Work out-of-office hours, as the needs of the multiple international collaboration the above program entails dictates. About you PHD in relevant field Ability to demonstrate how this role is an excellent fit to your career aspirations Solid understanding of epidemiological methods and study designs (e.g., cohort studies, prospective studies) Outstanding statistical analyses skills in cohort studies related areas Excellent knowledge of R software Sound understanding of causal inference in epidemiology Experience with biostatistics and working with large population-based datasets Expertise in physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and/or sleep research and their associations with health outcomes Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields Experience in writing research grants and preparing reports for stakeholders or funding agencies. Familiarity with ProPASS or similar international consortia Familiarity with qualitative research methods, including co-design.
