Research Fellow in Electrical Engineering University of Queensland Australia About This Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in the discipline of applied electromagnetics and antenna technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking research; supervising research of higher degree students; and conducting project-related activities on antenna technologies and microwave engineering.This is a three-year fixed term position with the aim of development of reconfigurable antennas for structural abnormality detection. During the term of the position, the researcher will be expected to focus on this research project and develop new avenues of research and collaborations. Research areas of particular interest for the project include reconfigurable antennas, metasurfaces, lenses, beam-steering antennas and anti-reflection surfaces.Key Responsibilities: Research: Design antenna and scanning platforms for the project, collaborate on ongoing and new research projects, seek and participate in drafting research funding, publish in reputable journals as lead author, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, provide day-to-day supervision, performance feedback and training to PhD students. Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values, collaborate and actively participate in unit activities, assist other academic positions and unit operations during absences, contribute to service roles, administrative processes, decision-making, and committees, engage in service activities outside the unit, develop relationships with industry, government, professional bodies, and the community. About You Completion or near completion of a PhD in the discipline of applied electromagnetics and antenna engineering (or a closely related field). An emerging profile in research in the discipline area. Proficiency in electromagnetic modelling and/or commercial simulation tools (CST/HFSS), in antenna technology, RF circuits and RF measurements. Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences. Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding. Evidence of industrial experience or past involvement in industry-funded projects is a plus. Familiarity with signal processing techniques is a plus.
