Residential Activities Officer Aged Care (Qualified) Cabanda Care Inc is located in Rosewood, a regional town located 20km west of Ipswich. Opening in 1987 as a 26-bed hostel, Cabanda was a vision of the local community to provide an aged care facility where people could age in the community they lived in.Since then, we have grown to include a 71 Bed Residential Aged Care Facility, a retirement village with 42 independent living units, Centre based Respite and Social Care Group, Home and Community Care, Meals on Wheels, Community Transport, and the Cabanda Café.Cabanda is the largest employer in Rosewood and the vision of Rosewood residents living in a community with those they have known all their lives has been maintained. The Residential Activity Officer (Qualified), under the supervision of the Residential Activities Diversional Therapist, participates in the provision of professional care for a range of residents in a Residential Care setting, ensuring that participants are provided safe, stimulating and fun-based activities that focus on participation, entertainment, fun, and fitness.Core Objectives Brief with Diversional Therapist on day’s program Communicate activities with all stakeholders, which includes writing up the blackboards with the program, emails, and phone calls as required Engage with residents Enter activity records into MANAD for activities including resident participation and any concerns or changes in behaviour noted Assist with serving food for activities based morning and afternoon teas Assist with the program as planned by the Diversional Therapist and as per monthly calendar Hand out calendars when required General clean of the activities area Prepare for the following day’s activities, as per the monthly calendar Assist Diversional Therapist with organizing raffles, theme days, card players, and any other reasonable duties as required Attend calendar/staff meeting monthly as required or read minutes Discuss resident concerns with Diversional Therapist and Care Team Complete any other reasonable duties as directed by Diversional Therapist Qualifications A Cert III in Leisure and Health or other relevant qualification, for example, a Cert III in Aged Care. Experience Experience in Aged Care is an advantage. Experience in a similar role is preferred. Experience working as part of a small team is preferred. Knowledge Current knowledge of personal and environmental hygiene. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with other staff and residents. Knowledge of Infection Control Guidelines.
