At Cosi’s Respite, we are in need of a committed Residential Care Officer who shares our vision of long-term service and can independently manage the responsibilities of the role. The officer will play a crucial role in upholding our company's unwavering commitment to compassion and excellence in disability care. What we offer: 40 Hours Full-Time contract You will work in a small and friendly team, in a relaxed atmosphere We work on fixed rostered hours, and you will have access to free parking. In addition, we offer great pay for the right candidate in an organized, friendly, and professional team environment. Shifts will be on weekdays, weekends and public holidays based on the roster. The Residential Care Officer is a role within Disability Services and is accountable to the Team Supervisor for: Providing care and supervision for children or disabled persons in group housing or institutional care. Undertaking tasks and participating in activities that enhance the lives of individuals and encourage and enable their participation and contribution within the Perth community. Assisting other members of the service team in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the individual's programs. Providing practical support to co-workers in direct care activities. Willingness to complete wake night shifts and weekends as and when required and supervise all other staff members. Managing a roster and all appointments. Administering medications in line with medication management plans and collecting and organising the medications and documentation. Interviewing clients and assessing the nature and extent of difficulties. Monitoring and reporting on the progress of clients. Assessing clients' needs and planning, developing and implementing educational, training and support programs. Referring clients to agencies that can provide additional help. Supporting participants in accessing the community and participating in community events and activities. Implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans. Supporting people to achieve their individual goals. Assisting young people to solve social, emotional and financial problems. Training staff on our internal practices and coordinating client-specific training as needed. Building and maintaining positive relationships with staff, clients, and their families, as well as participating in client case meetings. Responding to incident reports and ensuring documentation is complete. Assessing a client’s needs and assisting them in planning and accessing educational, training, employment or additional health or welfare supports. Supporting families and providing education and care for children and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing and government institutions. What you need: Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency. Minimum of a Diploma in Community Services or relevant field. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with clients, families, and healthcare providers. Ability to assess clients' needs and develop personalised care and support programs. Competence in monitoring client progress and making necessary adjustments to care plans. Capacity for self-management and taking initiative in managing the affairs of the company. Experience with reporting on client development and maintaining accurate records. A compassionate and respectful attitude toward individuals with disabilities. Ability to work collaboratively to ensure a nurturing and supportive environment for clients. Adherence to healthcare and disability support standards and regulations. Commitment to maintaining the privacy and dignity of clients. Provide 2 references from your most recent positions. 2+ years of experience providing care for disabled individuals or similar roles. Essential for this: Working with Children Check. Manual Handling. NDIS Orientation. Restrictive Practices. Sound knowledge and experience in Challenging Behaviours and Positive Behaviour Support. First Aid & CPR. National Crime Check. COVID-19 (fully vaccinated). Experience in Medication Management and Administration. Seizure Management and administration of emergency medications. Epilepsy Essentials. Personal Care Management. Crisis Intervention. Desired for this: Extensive knowledge about disabilities. Continence management. Contact and Behaviour Management. Infection Control. Catheter/Uridome management. PEG. Diabetes & BSL. Epilepsy. ABI. Dysphagia. Pneumonia. Dementia. Auto-Immune Diseases. Autism. Experience working with children within the Department of Child Protection.
