Roles and Responsibilities: Staff Management: Oversee rostering, hiring, and firing in consultation with the owner. Train and develop staff to ensure a high standard of service. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment where staff feel valued and supported. Lead by example arriving to work well-groomed and dressed in accordance with our restaurant's dress code. Set clear performance expectations and standards. Business Management: Obtain quotes and manage relationships with suppliers for food, beverages, cleaning, electricity, gas, insurances, etc. Handle front of house stock ordering and inventory management. Maintain relationships with current and future food and beverage representatives. Handle interactions with online food delivery platforms (e.g., Uber Eats). Organize tradesmen for maintenance and repairs. Serve as the main point of contact for liquor licensing. Customer Service: Greet guests warmly as they arrive and escort them to their tables, present menus and provide detailed information about dishes, beverages, and daily specials. Offer recommendations based on guests' preferences and answer any questions they may have about the menu. Accurately take food and beverage orders from guests, noting any special requests or dietary restrictions. Promote additional menu items, such as appetizers, desserts, and specialty drinks, to enhance the dining experience and increase sales. Manage customer emails, online menus, and the restaurant website. Address customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback. Food Safety & Compliance: Ensure the restaurant complies with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations. Maintain strict hygiene and cleanliness standards across all areas of the restaurant, including kitchen, storage, and dining areas. Analyze booking statistics and per person spending. Manage cash sales banking and invoice input in accounting software. Monitor and manage cash flow. End-of-day balancing and closing procedures for the POS system. Operational Management: Open and close the restaurant as required. Optimize staffing efficiencies and kitchen resourcing with the head chef. Handle conflict resolution and customer complaints. Assist in food preparation and perform duties in any kitchen section as needed. Maintain relevant qualifications and certifications. Collaborate with the chef to curate beverage menus. Act as a barista and cocktail manager when necessary. Table & Event Management: Efficiently manage and confirm table reservations using our booking system, ensuring accurate records and minimizing double bookings. Plan and arrange seating layouts to accommodate different party sizes and special requests. Adjust table configurations to suit the flow of service and maximize seating capacity without compromising comfort. Requirements: Proven experience as a Restaurant Manager or in a similar role within the hospitality industry. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach. Solid understanding of restaurant operations, including inventory management, cost control, and marketing. Passion for food and a keen eye for detail in delivering high-quality service. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Possession of a valid RSA and First Aid certification is required.
