We have an exciting opportunity to lead our North Canterbury Rural Supplies business in the role of Retail Sales Manager. PGG Wrightson Limited (PGW) is a leading provider to the primary sector, offering a wide range of products, services and solutions to growers, farmers, and processors in New Zealand. About the role The Retail Sales Manager leads the team of approximately 50 Technical Field Representatives, Store Managers and Customer Service Representatives across the northern part of Canterbury and the West Coast. The successful applicant would ideally be based from one of our branches north of the Waimakariri or our corporate office near Christchurch airport. The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for sustainable sales growth, increasing market share and improving the bottom line. This is achieved through developing effective relationships with clients and suppliers, engaging and coaching field and store staff, and creating a team culture where customer service and commercial decision making are key. You will have the support of colleagues from the wider PGW Retail Group, such as our in-house Technical, Category and Marketing teams, and you'll enjoy working as part of a close-knit team of Retail Sales Managers from across the country. About you To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following: Understanding of, and experience within, the New Zealand Agri-business sector A technical understanding of the diverse range of agriculture across the Canterbury region, including arable, dryland and dairy farming, as well as horticulture A passion for leadership, coaching and developing direct reports and teams Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and build effective internal and external partnerships A range of management skills - including financial acumen, compliance, risk management, continuous improvement and most importantly, a passion for sales Willingness to travel throughout the region frequently and, on occasion, nationally.
