About the Role: This is a senior safety leadership role where you will play a crucial role in cultivating a strong safety culture across our organization. You will drive continuous improvement in safety initiatives, ensure proactive risk management, and maintain compliance with regulations to safeguard the well-being of all employees. Your leadership of the I CARE program—Involve, Care, Act, Realize, and Engage—will be instrumental in promoting a safe, healthy, and sustainable workplace. This role empowers employees to meet safety standards and take active ownership in promoting a Zero Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR) and Zero Process Safety Incident Frequency (PSIF) culture. What You Will Do: Lead the development and execution of a 3-5 year strategy for continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance, aligned with Essity’s ICARE program. Drive innovation in health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Collaborate with senior leadership to align safety strategies with organizational goals. Empower Safety professionals and OHS representatives to lead initiatives, drive best practices, and foster a culture of safety ownership at all levels. Represent the company externally, liaising with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and stakeholders to stay ahead of trends and influence safety standards. Demonstrate clear leadership in promoting and maintaining a robust safety culture across the organization. Ensure active participation and accountability in safety practices at all levels of the organization. Who You Are: You bring at least 5 years of experience as a health, safety, and environment professional within international organizations. You will also have; A Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Health & Safety, or a related field. Proven leadership experience in Health & Safety, including strategy development and execution. Extensive experience managing multi-site safety programs and leading teams to implement safety initiatives. Demonstrated ability to create culture change to a safety-first culture emphasizing behavioural change and accountability. In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations across New Zealand and Australia. Strong leadership and influence, with the ability to drive change at all organizational levels. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage both internal and external stakeholders. High emotional intelligence, fostering a collaborative and safety-focused culture. Deep commitment to continuous improvement and achieving zero harm in safety initiatives. Nice to Have: Post-graduate qualifications in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related fields. Experience leading global teams or working in an international corporate environment. Certification in safety management systems (e.g., ISO, OHSAS).
