The objective of the SSA is to possess the capacity and capability to initially deliver Landing Craft Medium & Heavy for the Australian Army in supporting continuous naval shipbuilding in WA.The SSA is about establishing the capability within the Henderson Precinct, and Western Australia, to continuously build vessels for the Commonwealth. Defence Industry attracts talent with research, manufacturing and technology skills which means our people come from many backgrounds, bringing a rich and diverse culture.About The Opportunity The Risk Management Lead is a key position within the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) and plays an integral role in the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement Program. Reporting to the Head of EPMO, you’ll lead the organisation in best practice risk management and culture establishment and ongoing development.Specifically, you will have the opportunity to:Establish and operationalise a compliant Risk Management Framework for the SSA. Provide expert risk management guidance to delivery leaders, programs, and projects. Oversee risk surveillance, ensuring accurate tracking, assessment, and reporting. Design, implement, and refine risk management practices in line with the Risk Management Strategy. Develop and maintain risk management tooling and templates to enhance efficiency. Ensure SSA risk processes align with the CASG framework and Austal Enterprise Risk Management framework. This role is ideally suited to a seasoned risk management practitioner and leader who has established sustainable risk management and assurance practices for large organisations in a transformational environment. Skills And Experience Tertiary qualification in Risk Management (e.g. Cert IV, Diploma), Business, Commerce, Engineering Minimum 7 years of experience leading, facilitating and managing risk in complex organisational environments, including setting risk management strategies and the design and implementation of risk management practices, processes, and activities. Design and application of a broad range of risk management methodologies and frameworks, according to business need. Management of risk processes at enterprise and portfolio management level. Minimum 5 years of designing and delivering training in risk management processes and tools, to both front-line staff and senior managers. Demonstrable experience in risk management process optimisation, leading an organisation through risk capability maturity. Undergraduate Degree in Risk Management. Demonstrable experience in managing Transformation Program risks. Delivering risk management governance and support services in a Defence environment.
