About the Role We are seeking a Rollingstock Maintenance Manager to join our team, reporting to our Vice President (VP) Maintenance and Rollingstock. As our Rollingstock Maintenance Manager, you’ll oversee Watco's rollingstock maintenance requirements and facilities in Queensland. You will ensure the effective utilisation of our Maintenance team, manage inventory stock levels, and control expenses while ensuring compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will be based in Rockhampton (preferred) or Warwick with the ability to travel to our other Queensland locations according to operational requirements. You will need the ability to: Utilise the Maintenance team to meet operational requirements and customer expectations. Assist and mentor our Field Service Technicians with rollingstock maintenance activities as required from time to time. Experience in inventory management, including supplier audits, stock take controls, component identification, and procurement processes, is required. Develop and continually update a Training Plan for Field Service Technicians across all aspects of our rollingstock maintenance requirements. Ensure compliance with ONRSR, Accreditation, and Watco safety requirements. Lead quarterly Maintenance team safety meetings and close out action items. Perform safety interactions and audits, recording outcomes in the Watco safety portal. Investigate accidents and incidents, documenting causes, actions, and solutions. Ensure sufficient rollingstock availability for scheduled services. Conduct bi-annual inventory stocktakes and present results to the VP Maintenance and Rollingstock. Manage records in the maintenance database. Control expenses in all maintenance areas and ensure work hours are in line with the Enterprise Agreement and budget. Maintain customer relationships and support the Maintenance Planner with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities. What You Will Bring High school education or general education development (GED) equivalent. 5+ years' experience in EMD or GE locomotive maintenance. Rail industry experience is preferred. Strong knowledge in locomotive and wagon maintenance, including facility and plant management. Understanding of railroad operations, including train services and customer service. Ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Competency with technology and systems.
