Engineering for Kids is looking for energetic, enthusiastic individuals to join our talented team! We are hiring STEM instructors who are excited to lead fun (and educational!) afterschool and weekend programs, and camps for children ages 5-12. About Us EFK has been delivering interactive, hands-on STEM classes and camps for ages 5-12 in Victoria since 2016. We strongly believe that children learn best when they're having fun and it's just as important for our instructors to have fun as well! This is a temporary, part-time position, with an opportunity to extend into full-time with our summer camps. Position Overview You will work in a team of 2 to deliver curriculum, support students, and contribute to a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. We encourage you to bring your own ideas, passions, and expertise to the job! The kids love it as well! Training: In-person opportunities during the week and on weekends scheduled around your availability. Class Times: We currently run classes 7 days per week at varying times. Schedule: Instructors are scheduled based on availability and registration. Programs run from now until mid-June. Locations: Various recreation centres in Victoria, Sidney, and West Shore. Pay Range: $19.40 - $21.48 ($18.65- $20.65 plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay) Perks and Benefits: Paid hands-on training Team teaching environment with 2 instructors for class sizes of max 16 kids Opportunity to join our 2025 summer camp team An awesome team of people to work with! Plus, we provide everything you need to successfully run your programs, including supplies, equipment, and foundational curriculum. Primary Responsibilities Set up, maintain, and take down program space and supplies, including items provided by EFK, tables, and chairs Organize and lead themed activities for students Supervise and manage individual and group behaviour Handle behavioural incidents appropriately Encourage, support, and engage with students Provide appropriate support that considers the unique abilities of each student Collaborate with co-leads to create and maintain a fun, safe, and inclusive environment Follow policies surrounding dress code, safety, and inclusivity Communicate with EFK Admin and site contacts with program updates Apply feedback from other instructors and the EFK Admin team Demonstrate initiative by seeking additional Engineering For Kids training and further education Be professional, courteous, and approachable to students, parents, and staff Be a positive role model - the children look up to you! Qualifications and Experience Experience: Customer service (any preferred) Teaching (1-3 years preferred) Working with children ages 5-12 (1-3 years preferred) Robotics and coding (1-3 years preferred) Minecraft (1-3 years preferred) Hands-on building (1-3 years preferred) Skills: Group management (experience with large groups is an asset) Behaviour management (experience with large groups is an asset) Enjoys working with children ages 5-12 Can communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences (students, parents, etc.) Breaking down STEM concepts into basic explanations Thinking on your feet and finding solutions to everyday camp issues or challenges Engaging children through hands-on learning Receiving constructive feedback Able to be standing and walking for most of the day Interests: Teaching Robotics Coding LEGO Minecraft Some positions are funded by Canada Summer Jobs Grants. Let us know if you qualify: Between 15 and 30 years of age Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada Required Certifications (or willing to obtain) Current Emergency First-Aid and CPR C Certificate Clean Police Information Check (PIC) with vulnerable sector screening, obtained within the last 4 months Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle Compensation: $17.50 per hour Engineering for Kids is a proud member of the LaunchLife family of companies.
