SES Band 1 Chief Data Officer - Assistant Secretary, Data and Insights The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) is seeking applications from talented and highly motivated individuals to fill the Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 1 vacancy of Chief Data Officer - Assistant Secretary, Data and Insights Branch. As an Assistant Secretary in the department, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team. You will support the Executive in the provision of advice to Government and contribute to the leadership, management and strategic direction setting of the department. You will manage, develop and implement major government and departmental initiatives; participate in both departmental and whole of government forums; and contribute to corporate leadership and capability development for the department, including building high performing teams. Our ideal candidate will have proven capacity to lead organisational wide data related activities in complex organisational settings. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving data innovation, ensuring data integrity, and enhancing data-driven decision-making across the DVA. You will drive innovation and reform, collaborating across the department to ensure the data strategy aligns with organisational goals. With a data-driven, forward-thinking approach, you will be adept at navigating challenges while fostering a culture of continuous learning. In addition to your strategic acumen, you understand operational delivery and how to ensure that data lead solutions meet agency needs. You excel in stakeholder engagement, provide high-level advice, and have strong communication skills, quickly gaining the confidence of staff and senior management alike.
