The Deputy CEO and General Counsel role will be a key source of legal and other advice for the CEO, ensuring that the NST is managed in accordance with Australian Government and legislative requirements and operates in a manner that is effective, efficient, transparent and independent. The Deputy CEO and General Counsel will be involved in leading and shaping the NST's strategic and operational policy and processes, including policy development, provision of legal advice, leading the NST's practice and procedures, and liaising with NST Members. The Deputy CEO and General Counsel will work closely with the CEO in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including sporting bodies, sports law experts, government agencies and integrity bodies, and similar tribunals in other countries. Together with the CEO, the Deputy CEO and General Counsel will represent the NST in forums in Australia and internationally. The key duties of the position include: Exercising formal functions delegated by the CEO under the National Sports Tribunal Act 2019, including allocating NST Members to matters, determining remuneration and fees, and providing assistance to Members in connection with the performance of their functions. Oversight of the case management team and overall responsibility for the management of disputes before the NST, under the guidance of the CEO. Provision of ad hoc legal advice to the CEO and/or coordination of legal requests to external providers including the Australian Government Solicitor. Ensuring the consistent application of procedural rules in relation to the practice and procedure of the NST. Line management responsibility for Case Management and Governance and Policy teams. Ensuring the decisions of the NST are published in a consistent and timely way. Monitoring and managing risks to the quality of decision-making and adherence to timeframes. Overseeing a program of continuous improvement to support and guide the operations and decisions of the NST, including research and analysis of models, methods and practices that may be adopted by the NST. #J-18808-Ljbffr
