Location: Strathpine Join City of Moreton Bay as the SES Local Controller, and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow. As the SES Local Controller, you will lead the operational management of the Moreton Bay SES Unit and volunteers , in accordance with Queensland State Emergency Service (QSES) and City of Moreton Bay policies. You'll be managing SES assistance to residents and agencies during storm and flood response, evacuation and evacuation centre support, searches, and deployments. Other key activities include: Leading and managing the delivery of training of SES members/volunteers Leading management and maintenance of Council’s SES facilities to meet operational requirements of the Moreton Bay SES Unit Being at the forefront of identifying and removing challenges to emergency management activities Building high-level relationships and partnerships across a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders including members of the community, other government agencies (local, state and federal), and special interest groups Fostering a high-performance team culture Managing financial and governance responsibilities Special Requirements This position reports directly to the City of Moreton Bay Disaster Management Coordinator and has an indirect reporting relationship with the QSES Area Controller-Brisbane Region. Given the close working partnership between City of Moreton Bay and QSES, this position is required to manage the legislative, doctrinal and reputational responsibilities of the role on behalf of both organisations. Participate in an on-call duty officer roster and accept emergency activation calls on behalf of the Unit. Applicants must be prepared to undertake appropriate SES training modules as required for this position. Must be available for some work on weekends, public holidays and other out of usual hours work as required. We're looking for your significant experience leading an SES Unit and applying the State Emergency Service Act 2024 (Qld) and Disaster Management Act 2003 (Qld), as well as extensive experience in managing and driving high performing teams in a complex environment. You'll also bring: Active contribution to fostering a healthy, inclusive and well-connected workplace. Applied knowledge of sound financial practices within a legislative environment. Qualification and/or equivalent experience in emergency management preferably in an SES unit. Current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card (or willingness to apply).
