Job Description Summary Oversee, manage, and provide support to the nursing and medical assistant staff. Responsible for departmental functions, ensuring productivity, efficiency, accuracy, and safety. Reacts to the immediate operational needs of the practice. May provide professional nursing care for patients, following established standards and practices. Competency in this position is dependent upon the patient population as the position does provide patient care and/or services. This position does require knowledge of disease processes or diagnosis. Examples: Nurses, Clinical Managers, Pharmacists, Education Positions, Imaging Positions, CNSs & ACCs, Clinical Dieticians, and Respiratory Therapists. Salary Range: 112,000-137,000 annually depending upon experience. Yes Age of Patient(s) - (check all that apply) Children birth to 13 yrs Adolescents 13 - 18 yrs Adults 19 - 70 years. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education - Preferred Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. BSN required. Minimum Work Experience Four or more years of previous nursing experience required. 2 years of acute care experience preferred. Experience in an ambulatory environment required. Past supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership experience required. Pediatrics experience required. Required Licenses / Registrations RN - Registered Nurse, Current MA State RN Required Classes/Skills - BLS - Basic Life Support Required additional Knowledge and Abilities Telephone triage experience required. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to treat the patient and staff respectfully, with patience and compassion. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Employee must demonstrate computer proficiency through efficient use of the electronic medical record, patient registration/billing system, e-mail, and other computer software as required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions that the person in the job is held accountable for. Following are the essential functions of the job: Direct the daily clinical operations of the department ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Ensure adherence to departmental goals and objectives. Participate in the nursing process to ensure the provision of quality patient care. Provide patient care as needed to facilitate patient needs. Delegate staff assignments appropriately and identify staff education needs ensuring sustainability of workflows. Order supplies and maintain departmental inventory. Ensure all equipment is used properly and adequately maintained. Resolve patient issues and report grievances appropriately to Manager and Providers. Promote a culture of safety by assisting staff to report incidents in web-based safety reporting system; follow policies for employee and patient injuries. Ensure quality control through established specific measures such as workflow productivity monitoring- workload, reporting, and trends. Participate in the assessment of staffing needs by maintaining a master work schedule adjusting staff and forecasting staffing needs. Complete weekly timekeeping and address cause for overtime. Participate in the management of the departmental budget. Assist in the selection and hiring of staff. Oversee orientation and preceding of all new staff educational needs and staff development plans. Coordinate, participate, and execute on in the training and evaluation of staff. Consult with Nurse Educator regarding staff educational needs, staff development plans, and clinical improvement. Communicate changes and quality improvements with staff by conducting daily huddles, departmental meetings, and electronic communication, etc. Assist team with adapting to departmental level and hospital-wide changes. Work collaboratively with Operations Manager, Department Chief, and Nurse Manager. Communicate problems that may arise in a timely manner. Address personnel problems, i.e.: problems with Time and Attendance. Communicate problems that may arise with Nurse Manager and Operations Manager. Serve as a liaison between staff and leadership/providers. Attend and participate in assigned Management/Leadership Meetings. Work as a Team member across the organization. Work collaboratively with all departments. Communicate effectively with other Managers and Supervisors. Provide at-the-elbow support to nurses and medical assistants serving as a subject matter expert in the clinical duties performed by the roles. Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time. Not limited to but including assisting with other departments at other locations. Have knowledge of and adhere to the SSMC Mission Statement and all SSMC policies and procedures. Abide by and promote all SSMC Service Standards.
