We’re looking for a Safety & Sustainability Officer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract , working at the operational level to maintain and improve safety, health, and environmental management systems. This is a hands-on role , focusing on execution and compliance while engaging directly with frontline teams to foster a strong safety culture. Reporting to the GM, Maintenance Execution , you’ll be supporting safety initiatives, assisting with investigations, tracking compliance, and coaching employees on safe work practices. What You’ll Do Zero Harm & Compliance Engage directly with frontline teams to promote a proactive safety culture. Support the implementation of Zero Harm strategies and initiatives. Ensure compliance with safety legislation, company policies, and site-specific procedures. Operational Support Assist in incident investigations, draft notifications, and track corrective actions in DoneSafe. Support the development and review of Safety & Sustainability management plans. Conduct compliance audits and inspections to monitor risk and adherence to standards. Maintain document control for Safety & Sustainability records. Frontline Engagement & Training Provide practical support to site teams implementing safety and sustainability initiatives. Coach employees and supervisors on risk assessments, incident reporting, and safe work procedures. Facilitate toolbox talks and safety observations to reinforce best practices. Workers Compensation & Injury Management Assist with return-to-work planning, working alongside the Workers Compensation Team. Provide administrative support for injury management cases, ensuring regulatory compliance. Data & Reporting Collect, analyse, and report on safety and sustainability data to identify trends. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and assist with regulatory reporting. What You’ll Need Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety (or equivalent). Previous site-based safety experience, preferably in mining, resources, or heavy industry. Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies, and risk management practices. Strong interpersonal skills—ability to engage and influence frontline teams. Experience with safety management systems (e.g., DoneSafe) is a plus. Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Return to Work Coordinator certification (desirable). #J-18808-Ljbffr
