United in the pride that comes with welcoming the world at Australia’s premier gateway.Job Description About the role We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety and Training Coordinator to join our Baggage Handling System (BHS) team. In this newly created role, you’ll play a pivotal part in fostering a safe and efficient work environment by leading the planning and implementation of training and safety initiatives. Reporting to the Baggage Services Manager, you’ll work closely with the broader baggage team to ensure compliance with Australian safety standards while promoting best practices across the operation.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for workplace safety and training. Your ability to develop, coordinate, and evaluate safety procedures and training programs will directly contribute to the success of the team. If you’re ready to take ownership of this key role in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you!In this role, you will be Coordinating all BHS safety activities to ensure the ongoing serviceability of the Baggage Handling Systems across Sydney Airport, including Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Overseeing all BHS training activities, ensuring staff compliance across the three baggage handling systems. Acting as the key liaison between the BHS Team and the Sydney Airport Safety Team, ensuring effective communication and alignment. Managing the safety and training requirements of BHS contractors, ensuring compliance for both internal and external projects. Collaborating with external contractors to maintain safety standards and compliance for BHS-related projects. Keeping Shift Managers and operational staff informed about safety and training activities, ensuring minimal impact on baggage service delivery. Implementing, coordinating, and delivering training for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and other required safety documentation. About You Qualifications in Safety and Training (Cert IV or above) are preferred, demonstrating expertise in safety practices and training coordination. Knowledge of Australian Safety Standards is essential for ensuring compliance and maintaining a safe working environment. Proven ability to coordinate and organise multiple tasks, training programs, and safety activities effectively. High-level oral and written communication skills to liaise with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders. Experience with Maximo CMMS is preferred to efficiently manage maintenance and safety records within the baggage handling system. Resilience and self-motivation to thrive in a fast-paced environment, staying proactive and adaptable under pressure.
