CURRENT JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a great job for a Spanish-speaking savvy sales and marketing professional with at least five years of experience in the Australian (and ideally New Zealand) tourism industry. You’ll have the opportunity to work on destination accounts including Santa Monica Travel & Tourism, where you’ll focus on selling these locales to travel agents and marketing to consumers through trade and mainstream channels, ultimately driving Australians and New Zealanders to book destinations and their products. GTI is looking for a high-achieving, outgoing candidate who enjoys working in a vibrant, fast-paced environment and is adept at building relationships to grow interest and commercial success for tourism products. The candidate should also be proficient in Spanish to assist with streamlined client communication. Responsibilities: Work closely with travel agents and airlines to identify and develop opportunities for product, including development of new product and new marketing initiatives. Grow visitor arrivals from Australia and New Zealand by implementing a sales and marketing plan and leveraging key industry relationships to drive business. Become a destination expert with a deep knowledge of suppliers, accommodations, and more, and share your knowledge, enthusiasm, and experience with the Australian and New Zealand travel industry. Work closely with neighbouring destinations, in-destination partners and sister entities, e.g. tourism boards, tourism associations, etc, to drive collaborative marketing opportunities. Be a confident communicator, actively taking the lead to maintain and develop client and industry relations to achieve marketing and product goals. Keep abreast of tourism industry news and deliver campaign performance and ongoing account reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc). Trade Marketing and Training: Develop and conduct training sessions both online and in-person with product managers, reservations staff, and frontline travel agents, including preparing training presentations, that work to improve their awareness of and confidence to sell destinations. Develop and implement a trade communication program, including writing and distributing newsletters and preparing assets. Coordinate and attend industry and travel expos where required, both domestically and internationally. Propose and deliver co-operative marketing campaigns and incentives in partnership with key trade partners, clients and GTI’s Consumer Marketing Senior Account Manager. Support the in-destination trade to work with the Australian and New Zealand trade, including preparation of market overviews, briefings, hosting and providing intel and recommendations. Event Management, Coordination and MICE: Propose, develop and manage event concepts, anything from small lunch events to larger multi-city sales missions, and deliver these to budget. Attend industry events on behalf of your clients and leverage your industry contacts to ensure trade attendance at events and assist with networking for clients. Host clients during sales missions and other in-market visits, preparing documentation including market briefings, meeting overviews and more. Ensure ongoing up-to-date MICE market intelligence for clients and propose, develop and deliver events and activities focused on the MICE industry. Consumer Marketing: Work closely with GTI’s Consumer Marketing Senior Account Manager to identify and propose social media, ambassador, content marketing and trade co-op activities for your clients. Support GTI’s Consumer Marketing Senior Account Manager to deliver social media, ambassador and content marketing activities by compiling assets, feeding into briefing documents, reviewing content and copy and facilitating. Support GTI’s General Manager to deliver integrated consumer marketing activations. Maintain Industry Relationships and Contacts: Maintain and actively add to a database of industry contacts for all clients. Undertake product audits for clients as required. Proactively identify and target new industry contacts for your clients to increase availability of destination and product. Agent Famil Trips & Events: Prepare travel trade famil itineraries, and host where required. Coordinate trade in-destination events and host where required. Gather post-event/famil feedback and present back to your clients. Agency Responsibilities: Fulfill sustainability plan actions allocated to you. Be a fantastic ambassador for GTI, striving to deliver exceptional client service. Be innovative, incredibly organised and a great team player, sharing knowledge within the sales and marketing team and working collaboratively with public relations colleagues. Fulfill personal and team timekeeping requirements that are part of agency life and be comfortable with account management including resourcing, client scoping, KPI setting, etc. Skills, Knowledge & Experience: This role would suit someone who: Has excellent interpersonal and communications skills, existing industry relationships and the ability to win support for your clients through your sales and product development skills. Has strong understanding of trade sales as well as trade marketing, to be able to engage with those working in frontline retail as well as at a product/head office level. Has excellent written communication skills and a high level of attention to detail. Is confident communicator with strong presentation skills. Has strong work ethic, with willingness to work flexible hours and travel where required (e.g., trade shows, events, famils). Is highly organised with strong time and workload management skills and has ability to work well within a team. Is energetic and motivated individual who is passionate about destination marketing. Is proficient in Spanish to ensure streamlined communication with certain clients. What else is important?
