Commencement Date: Monday 24 March 2025 Employment Type: Term Time, Fixed Term Salary Range: $33.17 to $34.58 gross per hour plus 12.75% Super Closing Date for Applications: 5pm, Sunday 16 March 2025 Newman Catholic College, Smithfield Newman Catholic College, co-located on James Cook University site, Smithfield, is Cairns Catholic Education’s newest college, joining a system of 29 other catholic schools and colleges. Opened in 2022 and growing a year level each year until Year 12 is reached in 2027, its location on and interaction with the University presents endless opportunities to meet the diverse learning needs of our students. Newman Catholic College works collaboratively with James Cook University so that learning and teaching is enhanced at all year levels. About the Role The School Learning Officer role is to assist the classroom teacher to meet the learning goals of students who have diverse learning needs within the College. This may involve meeting the learning needs of the class as a whole. The ultimate responsibility for delivering classroom content rests with the classroom teacher. He/she provides direction and guidance to the SLO. The SLO follows the school code of behaviour when working with students.
