The College has an active role in the ongoing development of the Doreen community hub. The College commenced at the beginning of the 2014 school year with 143 students and has grown to a current size of 2,300 students and 250 staff.Currently, the College structures include Kindergarten, Primary Years P-5, and Secondary Years 6-12. In 2025, the College will transition to a Primary P-6 and Secondary 7-12 model. Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Experience in responding to student learning needs. SC2: Experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning programs on student growth. SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice, and providing feedback on student growth and achievement. SC4: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community. SC5: Behaviors and attitudes consistent with Department values. Experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality. Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students. As teachers gain experience, their contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake additional duties in line with their qualifications and experience. Classroom Teacher Range 2: Range 2 teachers assist the school in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities. They are expected to model exemplary classroom practice and mentor other teachers. Classroom Teacher Range 1: The focus is on developing skills to become effective practitioners with support from higher-level teachers. They are accountable for effective program delivery and may assist in policy development and co-curricular activities. Responsibilities The role may include but is not limited to: Direct teaching of groups and individual students; Contributing to curriculum area development and evaluation; Undertaking classroom-related and organizational duties as determined by the Principal; Participating in meetings, camps, and excursions; Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.
