Overview – Role Jensen Hughes is seeking an experienced Senior Access Consultant for Australia. In this role, you will have the responsibility to deliver high-quality access consulting services in a timely manner, undertaking site inspections, reporting defects, and managing workflow & output within client deadlines supporting all levels of management as well as assisting the Building Regulations Consultants, Assistant Building Regulations Consultants, and other junior team members. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual from a design background having knowledge of the Access requirements of the BCA, related Australian Standards, principles of Universal design and able to deliver high-quality cost-effective access consulting services in a timely manner under the supervision of the Directors and Managers. This role will be based in Melbourne. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality cost-effective access consulting services in a timely manner, undertaking site inspections, and reporting defects while managing your workflow and output within client deadlines. Source your own clients and identify opportunities for new business, consistently achieving a minimum monthly invoicing target. Review, assess, and provide recommendations on various stages of developments including out of scope works, on-site assessments and reports. Undertake accessibility audits and appraisal of existing/new buildings for access compliance. Assist colleagues and direct manager/team leader with technical input, tasks, QAs, and access-related queries/concerns. Provide advice based on sound interpretation of the Access provisions including Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards. Demonstrate a high-level understanding of Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport and relevant regulations. Prepare technical Access reporting throughout the design and development approvals process. Maintain project files and records in line with established business management systems. Prepare competitive and comprehensive fee proposals tailored for each project. Ensure compliance with Company policies & procedures and relevant work health and safety requirements. Demonstrate respect towards all team members and collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds. Requirements and Qualifications Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Architecture, Design, Human Movement/Health Science, Engineering, or Building Surveying along with Certificate IV or Diploma in Access Consulting. Membership or eligibility for the Association of Consultants in Access Australia (ACAA) and participation in continued professional development. Sound knowledge of Environmental Planning, Assessment Act & Regulations, Home Building Act & Regulations, and Disability Discrimination Act & Regulations. Experience in accurate review and preparation of reports, letters, and emails utilizing company templates. Client management experience and skills. Flexible approach to working hours, including attending meetings after hours or on weekends as needed. Personal drive, results-oriented with a friendly, can-do attitude and high level of integrity. Must be an Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident or hold a valid Work Visa in Australia.
