THE ROLEWe’re looking for a Senior Account Manager to join our team and create standout work that will help make our clients famous. Working within our Consumer & Food, you will be working with some of the biggest and well-known brands in the country. This is an opportunity for someone with a passion for consumer and food to join our team to look after some of the biggest brands in the country. The Senior Account Manager works closely with Account Directors, Senior Account Directors and the Client Services Director to deliver the best quality work across client program development, implementation and reporting, meeting and exceeding campaign KPIs, and makes a positive contribution to identifying and securing new business for the agency. We need a self-starter, someone who is a can-do operator, can spot a good, earned story, and who has close media contacts. In addition, you will have the skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement, adaptability and responsibility to manage client activities and junior members of the team who help implement them. This position reports to a Senior Account Director with whom the person will work with daily and requires accountability for personal and team outputs and outcomes. Key Responsibilities Be the wow factor for clients Research and monitor clients’ business and industries to stay up to date on trends, developments and breaking issues, and in concert with senior managers, counsel client accordingly. Own and drive strong relationships with across multiple levels within the client base, ensuring regular visibility with key contacts. Know each clients’ objectives, perspectives, issues and requirements. Prepare basic communications and earned strategies and programs for clients and make a solid contribution to more complex ones. Effectively present strategies and programs to clients. Working with senior managers, prepare and regularly review and update detailed project/program plans including working timetables of activity to ensure successful implementation and achievement of KPIs. Continually review programs to ensure all deliverables are met and suggest new initiatives to reach goals as required. Achieve high levels of client satisfaction, driving and motivating team members to provide superior service whilst maintaining agency profitability. Autonomously manage small-to-medium sized accounts in consultation with senior manager/s. Bring your Black Book of media and influencer contacts Ensure accurate, relevant media distribution lists are developed and kept up to date. Develop and cultivate a wide range of relationships across mainstream and specialist media relevant to client base. Cultivate strong relationships with social influencers relevant to client base. Bring your creativity, developing unique, relevant and newsworthy story angles. Develop high quality key messages, media releases, Q&As, prepared remarks, standby statements and other materials, including research, writing, editing, collating and distributing through relevant news and social media channels. Ensure media are proactively followed up to achieve agreed KPIs, cultivating a positive client presence. Work with targeted media and influencers on story/content development. Respond to and follow up media enquiries in a timely, efficient and professional manner. Write highly newsworthy communications materials. Organise, implement and oversee media and influencer events including conferences, briefings, tours and activations. Be an event manager extraordinaire Plan and implement events including research, venue, catering, talent selection and management, theming and decoration, speaker briefs and speech writing. Manage guest lists, invitations and RSVPs. Provide quality control, issues management and hands on support at the event, and professionally interact with clients, stakeholders and guests. Be a culture driver Be a driving force for culture within the agency; share your knowledge of culture (youth culture, subculture, internet culture), trends and audiences to fuel culturally meaningful ideas and insights. Be a force for positive and approachable creativity, contribute creatively to projects, new business and campaign development. Look for and make a major contribution to business development activities. Manage allocated budgets ensuring client profitability. Critically evaluates information in more complex written texts. Digital/Social Have a sound understanding of current digital channels and social media as marketing tools. Work with #RedSocial to develop best-in-class social and digital strategies for clients. Assist juniors to develop high quality content calendars and ensure posts are timely, targeted, accurate and in keeping with the strategy. Work with #RedSocial on paid campaigns to boost posts and build communities. Ensure client, industry and competitor social media activity is monitored and reported on in a timely and accurate way. Issues and Crisis Management Anticipate potential issues which may affect clients. Develop client issues and crisis management plans as required. Working with senior managers, develop materials on more complex issues. Budgeting and Financial Management Develop accurate client budgets for sign off by the senior lead. Manage and coordinate assigned junior account teams ensuring effective and efficient deployment of resources, and high-quality work that meets clients’ objectives in a manner that provides value for money and account profitability, flagging any issues with senior managers. Manage allocated budgets with no over-runs without prior client approval, including following all HAVAS Red and client financial processes including raising and processing purchase orders. People Management Assist senior managers with training and development of junior staff. Have a strong understanding of the KPIs for self and junior staff. Assist senior managers to help staff deliver on their KPIs. Provide senior managers with feedback on team members you work with both informally and during 360-degree performance reviews. Develop mentees through coaching and advice. New Business Support senior managers on new business pitches, tenders and proposals including research, brainstorming, drafting case studies, developing media targets and story angles. Confidently present at pitch meetings and tissue sessions as required. Proactively recommend additional projects to existing clients. Attend industry and relevant client events. Use networks and networking opportunities to uncover new business opportunities and bring them to the attention of senior managers. The Basics A degree in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism (or similar) would be great (but not mandatory). Experience and contacts within the Australian media, with key relationships across news, lifestyle, luxury, food and beverage and travel. A minimum five years full-time in agency or similar experience and proven proficiency to perform tasks required to a high standard. Knowledge Requirements This position requires specific in-depth theoretical and technical knowledge of: The communications industry, theories and practice. Australian politics, society, news, media, influencers and social media. The agency's clients’, their industry sectors, customers and stakeholder/key influencers.
