Senior Advisor - Environmental Science and Regulatory Improvement The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR) for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.Working with NOPSEMA provides an opportunity to make a real difference to people working in Australia’s offshore energy industry and the environment.We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Advisor – Environmental Science and Regulatory Improvement to join our Perth Office to develop, co-ordinate and implement environmental science advice and strategic regulatory improvement initiatives.Role: Reporting to the Chief Environmental Scientist, this role will be responsible for working collaboratively with others on the analysis of information and preparation of a range of written materials for internal and external stakeholders that support regulatory and broader agency objectives.Key Responsibilities: As a highly self-motivated and experienced Senior Advisor with extensive experience and knowledge of creating and maintaining procedures, guidelines and standards relating to the regulation and management of environmental impact and risk, you will be responsible for liaising with internal and external subject matter experts and other Government Agencies to deliver regulatory and organisational objectives.You will undertake inter-agency liaison on Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 matters and relevant Government programs and initiatives applicable to environmental management of offshore energy activities.The successful applicant will provide support with the assessment of regulatory submissions and other compliance activities relevant to environmental management of offshore energy activities.We would like to hear from you if: You are an accomplished Senior Advisor with the ability to identify, analyse and diagnose problems in a logical and rational manner and demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving.You have a reputation as a trusted Senior Advisor who can express ideas clearly and negotiate and influence at all levels and leverage your expertise to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders across multiple disciplines to effectively address environmental impacts / risks of human activities in the marine environment.Why work for NOPSEMA?
