We are working with a market leading private equity investor with a focus on investing sustainably and responsibly in mid-market businesses. They are looking for a Senior Associate to join their Sustainability team based in their Sydney Office. Working closely with the Director, this role will be critical in developing and implementing their responsible investment strategy across both their Private Equity and Impact funds. In this role, you will work with the private equity investment teams and with the portfolio company operations team on key strategic projects, ESG due diligence oversight and the creation of sustainability agendas and supporting materials for portfolio companies. This person will be a key source of internal ESG expertise for the responsible investing strategy, investment analysis, portfolio company management and external reporting, engagement and advocacy activities. Two key aspects of this role will be to work closely with portfolio companies to improve their ESG/sustainability and impact performance, and ESG reporting which includes an annual Sustainability Report and Impact Report, investor reporting, mandatory climate reporting, etc. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of relevant corporate or commercial experience which will include experience in an ESG, impact or a related field. This person could come from Big 4, a strategy consulting firm, a corporate, another Private Equity fund, super fund, or a listed fund manager. You will understand a broad range of environmental, social and governance principles, frameworks and reporting standards. You will be a strategic thinker with strong communication skills, project management skills and client-facing experience. Candidates with decarbonisation and climate experience will be highly regarded.
